Front Crawl Fundamentals Workshops
I run Front Crawl Workshops near Gatwick in West Sussex with another SwimMastery Coach, Pam Adams from SwimInMotion. We teach the fundamental skills needed to swim front crawl with more ease, for longer or faster, depending on your goal.
To ensure swimmers have enough time to learn and practice correct and safe swim movements, we break down the fundamental skills, offering a Level 1 and Level 2 Workshop over two days. If you book both levels at the same time, there is a 20% discount on the Level 2 Workshop.
Next Level 1 Workshop: 29th August 2026, £200
Next Level 2 Workshop: 30th August 2026, £200

1-2-1 Swim Lessons
As a SwimMastery coach, I use principles based on human biomechanics, physics, and neuroscience, helping swimmers how to learn effectively and to learn to work with the water rather than fight it.
Efficient breathing mechanics is absolutely critical in swimming to oxygenate your body properly, use minimal effort to breathe and to maintain a focused and calm mind so the swimmer can really tune into their body.
I use video analysis in every lesson as I believe it is an integral part of learning, giving the swimmer immediate feedback on their swim movements. Following the lesson, you are sent annotated video clips and a summary to support your swim practice.
I teach 1-2-1 swim technique lessons with video analysis in a small private indoor pool on Ashdown Forest, near Uckfield, TN22 3PG.
I offer:
1-2-1 a 90 minute Initial Swim Assessment with video analysis for new clients.
1-2-1 swim lessons with video analysis for 60/45/30 minutes
Block of 6 swim lessons with video analysis.

Breathing training for Swimmers Workshops
I run "Find Your Flow: Breathwork for Swimmers" workshops at a private 25m pool near Gatwick in West Sussex with Kath Lambert from Swim+Tonic.
It is estimated that 90% of the general population has some form of dysfunctional breathing. A recent research study showed that 90% of nearly 2000 athletes had dysfunctional breathing patterns.
Take the Free Breathing Assessment to find out what your daily breathing patterns at rest are like. If it highlights some areas for improvement, this workshop could be perfect for you.
If our breathing is sub-optimal in some way at rest, this will impact how we breathe during physical exercise.
This unique workshop explores your daily breathing patterns and how these may be impacting not only your swimming, but your sleep and general health. We work on your breathing in and out of the pool to learn more efficient breathing patterns.
Next workshop is: Sunday 5th July 2026, £189

SwimTech Club
Adult Weekly Guided Practice
These weekly sessions focus heavily on improving front crawl technique for adults, following Swim Mastery principles, whilst also working on fitness. Short video clips are sometimes taken to give live technique feedback. We sometimes work on other strokes, which may be new for some swimmers but are good for cross training.
Many swimmers are also open water swimmers or would like to start open water swimming, therefore we also build in open water skills in some sessions to prepare for open water events or build confidence for open water swimming.
We learn to count strokes and vary tempo using a Finis Tempo Trainer Pro. This not only trains multiple systems: neural, metabolic, muscular and mental, but is the smart way to work on speed and efficiency.
Swimmers like the social aspect of the group and a key ingredient is FUN! In the summer months we plan some open water swims together and some of us enter open water events together. There may also be the occasional pub visit after a training session!
Mondays @ 7.30pm-8.30pm

Next 7 week block starting Monday 8th June 2026, £112,
or if you can't make every week, you can pay-as-you-go for £22 per session.

Open Water Swimming Coaching
During the summer months, I offer swim coaching sessions in open water to help you build confidence if you are new to it, or to work on swim technique or race skills with triathletes of all ages.
I offer 1-2-1 and group open water sessions at WeirWood Reservoir in East Sussex.
I also started the Flushed Dippers swimming group at WeirWood to introduce peri- to post-menopausal women to the benefits of open water swimming. I hope to continue these sessions this summer.
I can also offer 1-2-1/small group cold water/winter swimming introductory sessions on request. Also see my Contrast Therapy page for cold water therapy options.
Please email me to book a session, for more information, or if you have any questions:
Swim Lesson Testimonials
"Just to let you know I went swimming today and tried out my new breaststroke - it's incredible :) soooo relaxing and yet I did more lengths! I could have kept going - I even found myself smiling on more than one occasion underwater as it was such fun :) :) :) thank you soooo much.

"Marianne is a superb teacher. My kids learned more from her in two lessons than in five years of lessons with other people! She is calm, patient and explains things in a relatable, clear way. She is also hands on: happy to get in the water alongside the kids, which gives them a lot of confidence. I have now had a lesson myself and it was so helpful. Marianne is very good at showing video analysis, and I like that she works on one thing at a time, to avoid overwhelm. She's also great at talking though swimming-related breathing techniques. All in all fantastic teacher, and a really friendly, kind person too".

"My husband and son were recently introduced to open water swimming, with the amazing coach Marianne from Weightless Swimming. While both are strong swimmers, they were very much reassured by the techniques and guidance that were offered, from what to wear, how to prepare, safety measures and an in depth look at how to breathe! The icing on the cake for them was the instructions alongside their videos, which is already improving their stroke in the water, and for my son in competitive swimming. We highly recommend both WeirWood Reservoir and Marianne for your open water experience too."

"Thanks so much for the videos and the practice summary and more particularly for the lesson on Tuesday - it has really buoyed me up all week. I so enjoyed learning from you and understanding your comments about what I was doing OK and what I needed to change. It seems like quite a lot at the moment but I do understand that it will take time to put it all together and you have given me some places to start. These videos are so useful and your arrows and commentary really help to explain what I need to do and why."

"Just to let you know the half ironman went well. Surprisingly the swim was my favourite bit! I felt really good and relaxed in the water. Think it took 49 minutes. Thanks for the training!"

"I have been taking front crawl lessons with Marianne for around six months, and barely thought it possible that swimming tuition could be so enjoyable and productive. As a keen and experienced open water swimmer who swims purely for enjoyment, I initially contacted Marianne and took one lesson out of curiosity. I had little expectation of learning changes to my technique that I would come to value. After my first lesson I was hooked. Flaws in my old technique were immediately obvious, and Marianne explained how many of the things I was doing were wasting energy and putting unnecessary strain on my body.
Marianne’s teaching method is relaxed, friendly, and crystal clear. Shortly after each lesson I am provided with superb audio annotated video analysis, both under and over water. Often, sections of these films are shown in slow-mo, and stop-motion, and sometimes graphics are superimposed over a frozen frame during her commentary, displaying, for example, adjustments to be made or correct alignments to be sought whilst practising. This is an invaluable resource for studying the evolution of my swimming, and a powerful tool in aiding the mastery of new technique.
For anyone wishing to learn efficient swimming, and to correct aspects of their technique that are so hard to spot, let alone change, during solo swimming, lessons with Marianne are guaranteed to set up long term improvements. Swim Mastery is designed for maximum efficiency and effortless travel through the water, and above all it emphasises posture and movements that minimise strain on any part of the body, thereby all but eliminating the possibility of injury whilst swimming, no matter how often or far you swim. Learning this technique has been, and continues to be a revelation, and I am immensely grateful to Marianne for such great tuition. Sea swimming in particular has long been my very favourite activity, and now it is more enjoyable than it has ever been”.

"Thank you so much for sending these videos through; I can't wait to sit down and watch through them all! I really enjoyed our lesson and got so much out of it; you really are a wonderful and very patient teacher!"
